Courtenay Creative, a partner of NZ Games Festival, are working with the Latin American Centre of Asia-Pacific Excellence to encourage creative business connections between New Zealand and Latin America.

Like New Zealand, the Latin American region is bursting with original, creative and diverse game developers, who are nonetheless underrepresented in the global market.

Working with LATAMCAPE, Courtenay Creative has connected with some of these talented game developers to open communication between NZ and Latin America.

This project is all about improving exposure between the two regions and encouraging collaboration. Both NZ and Latin America are home to experienced innovators, each with truly unique knowledge bases.

When we can open channels between these two regions, the opportunity for collaboration and knowledge sharing is invaluable.

It’s important for NZ commercial game developers to understand and find inspiration in what’s going on in the world around them. Audiences today are becoming increasingly global and there’s definite value in understanding what different parts of those audiences look for and experience.

For 2020, the LATAMCAPE showcase was scheduled to be part of NZ Games Festival’s Level Up exhibition. Due to COVID-19 however, the team at Courtenay Creative have worked with Beyond to produce a sizzle reel demonstrating some of the incredible innovation happening in Latin America.

All of the game developers showcased in the reel are open to contact from NZ developers and studios. You can find contact details through the Courtenay Creative website.

There’s a lot that can be learned from the cultural and creative similarities and differences between NZ and Latin America. Both regions punch well above their weight to make an impression upon the global market, and through collaboration developers from both regions can grow and excel.

If you’re interested in collaborating and sharing knowledge with Latin American developers, don’t hesitate to get in touch!
